What a start to the tournament! Conway showed everyone how to bat on this pitch and paced his innings well. Ish Sodhi was good and took 4 wickets to derail the chase of Australia. Southee and Boult were brilliant at the start and tose early wickets were key to take this game away from Australia
Kane Williamson: "Conway played well on the surface which was sticking a bit. It was a great effort to get us to the 180-mark. It was exciting to get back and play international cricket"
Aaron Finch: "New Zealand has looked after us really well. Devon deserved the hundred there and they are tough to come by in T20 cricket. He played a great knock. They built a great partnership and ran between the wickets well. Very happy for Philippe and we couldn't win for him tonight."

Nikhil: Marsh was looking good at the other end but the frequent fall of wickets was not helping his cause. Ish Sodhi came into the attack and sent back Stoinis immediately. It was a poor shot from Stoinis as he tried to pull one but smashed it straight into the hands of Sodhi. Sodhi finished his spell with 4 wickets off his 4 overs by giving away just 28 runs. Marsh was the only batsman who looked comfortable in the middle. He made 45 off 33 balls but didn't have anyone at the other end to build a partnership with him.
Nikhil: Josh Phlippe couldn't get going in his debut match as he tried to pull off Boult's bowling but got a top edge. It was a bit of cross-seam delivery which did the trick. Wade once again threw his wicket away after hitting a wonderful six of the first ball off Boult bowling. He smashed into the hands of the mid-off fielder of a very full delivery which was wide outside off. Maxwell followed him immediately edged to the 2nd slip trying to drive an outswinger which was full outside off.
Nikhil: New Zealand win by 53 runs. Australia needed 185 runs to win against the good bowling attack of New Zealand. Finch was the first to go in the first over. He tried to drive in the air past point but couldn't time it well. His form has been a worry and he couldn't get a big one today. The ball was swinging!! Southee and Boult made good use of it bowling at tight lines and not giving away anything to the batsmen.
