William Perkins made a name for himself during the 2006 U-19 World Cup where he ended the tournament as West Indies’ second-highest run-getter, while his knock of 133 against the USA was regarded as one of the best by a U-19 boy. An explosive wicket-keeper batsman who was fast-tracked into the West Indies national side but couldn’t cement his spot due to stiff competition against Denesh Ramdin and Carlton Baugh. Hence, migrated to America in 2016.
After the Junior World Cup, Perkins established himself in Trinidad & Tobago as a limited-overs specialist. He started his journey in domestic circles with the T20 format and soon made his First-Class and List-A debut during the 2007-08 cycle. However, his claim to fame came during the Stanford T20 final where Perkins’ unbeaten half-century took T&T home.
Perkins’ performances were very much celebrated in the domestic circuit and he was soon awarded a national call-up. The keeper-batsman made his international debut in a T20I clash against touring Australia but got out on 9. Sadly for Perkins, that T20 became his only outing for the West Indies.
However, the explosive batter returned to domestic grind and performed wonders for T&T for a couple of more seasons, before he became a T20 force to play a useful hand in the Caribbean Premier League. Perkins represented Barbados Tridents, Guyana Amazon Warriors, and Trinbago Knight Riders in the franchise league but was suspended by ICC for handing his Official Access pass to a third party. After that, he migrated his base to the United States of America to get centrally contracted by the USACA in 2016.
