An elegant left-handed batsman and a dangerous seam bowler, Ryan Patel is a professional English cricketer for Surrey County. A graduate of the renowned Surrey Academy, Ryan has progressed through the club’s age-group system since the age of eight and has cemented his spot in the club’s red-ball team.
Ryan made his first-class debut in Surrey’s County Championship match against Middlesex in August 2017 when he was just a teenager and debuted alongside Ollie Pope, Sam Curran and Amir Virdi. One of the finest moments of his career came over a victory against Somerset in 2018 when he claimed 5 wickets in 11 balls and ended with the figures of 6-5, a first-class record to date.
The Sutton-born southpaw’s all-round efforts saw him feature in 10 Championship matches as Surrey went on to win the Specsavers County Championship title in 2019. At just 23 years of age, Ryan’s greatest challenge in the near future is the fierce competition he’s going to face in a star-studded Surrey line-up comprising of Jason Roy, Curran brothers, Will Jacks and Virdi. After a shortened 2020 season, Patel would be hoping to grow as an all-rounder and secure his spot in the Club across all formats.
