A naturally talented all-rounder, Peter Borren is a New Zealand-born cricketer, who is a former international cricketer for the Netherlands. He represented New Zealand in the 2002 U19 World Cup, alongside Ross Taylor, and moved to the Netherlands in 2005 to fulfil his dream of playing international cricket.
Peter made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka on July 2nd, 2006. It was a forgettable debut for the youngster as he was hammered by the Lankan greats for 94 runs in his 10 overs. Part of the 2007 World Cup squad, he smashed 96 runs against Canada. He was also the main star of a historic win against England in the World T20 at Lords. His all-round performance stole the match from English grasp after he picked the wicket of the skipper Eoin Morgan and also scored a 25-ball 30 in the Dutch victory.
Four years after making his debut for the Dutch side, he was awarded the central contract in 2010 and was named as the captain of the Netherlands. The former skipper was injured just before the start of the 2011 World Cup which saw him ruled out of few crucial fixtures for the Netherlands.
Borren last featured in an international fixture in 2017 in a T20I match against Hong Kong. The Christchurch-born who was part of the Dutch side that beat England at T20 World Cups in 2009 and 2014 was appointed as the Netherlands coaching staff in February 2020 after retiring from all forms of cricket in 2018.
