A tall, lanky right-arm pacer who can swing both ways, Oliver Richard Trethowan Sale is a professional English cricketer for Somerset County. A product of the Somerset Academy, Sale spent his childhood playing age-group cricket for Devon Club.

The Newcastle-born pacer made his first-team debut for Somerset against Hampshire in July 2016 and has only a handful of senior appearances under his belt. A career ruined by injuries, Sale spent most of 2016 easing his way back into action after recovering from a serious back injury. 

Sale was injured for most of the 2017 and 2018 seasons and his opportunities were limited to the second XI. Prior to the start of the 2021 season, the 25-year old signed a two-year contract extension which will see him serve the club until the end of 2022. Yet to make his Championship debut, Sale’s only goal at the moment is to improve on his consistency and get a breakthrough into the first team of Somerset.
