Another talented player to have come out of the Papua New Guinea cricketing setup, Norman Vanua is a bowling all-rounder who plays for PNG at the international level.
Vanua is a right-arm medium-pace bowler with an ability to chip in with quick-fire runs if needed. After nurturing his game at the youth level, he made his T20I debut for PNG against Ireland in the 2015 ICC World Twenty200 Qualifiers.
Just everything went according to the script in his debut game. Vanua picked up his maiden T20I wicket and gave away just 22 runs in four overs. Furthermore, he was the star with the bat and showed his all-round skills with a blistering 10-ball 28 to fetch the victory for his nation. For his monumental effort, Vanua was adjudged the 'Player of the Match'.
In August 2021, Vanua was eventually selected in the PNG squad for the 2021 ICC World T20 Tournament. Still in his prime, Vanua has a big opportunity to showcase his skills at the World level now. He has all the tools to succeed at the highest level and the PNG team management are counting on him to deliver this time around.
