Nipun Dananjaya Perera is a former Sri Lanka U-19 captain who is a left-handed middle-order batsman by craft. He represents Sinhalese Sports Club in the domestic tournaments in the country, he was named in the SLC Reds team for the SLC Invitational T20 League.
Born in Chilaw, Perera graduated from Wennappuwa’s St. Joseph Vaz College. He was named for his country’s U19 team in the World Cup in 2018, even before making his domestic debut. While he captained the U-19 team in the next Junior World Cup in 2020. The left-hander had an unrememberable tournament in 2018 but bettered his numbers in the latter competition. He scored 157 runs from five innings at 31.40, including his best of 66 against India.
The southpaw made his first-class debut for Sinhalese Sports Club in the 2018–19 Premier League Tournament. The following season, he represented the club to make his T20 debut during SLC Twenty-20 Tournament.
In 2021, Perera was named in the Sinhalese squad to play the Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament, where he earned his List-A cap. A couple of months later, he was named in the SLC Reds team for the Invitational T20 League. The youngster hasn’t done anything worthwhile thus far in his career, but he surely has shown a lot of sparks.
