Nick Selman is an Australian-English cricketer who joined Kent second XI in 2015 and eventually signed up with Glamorgan, a year later.
The right-handed opening batsman had a stellar debut season for Glamorgan, scoring two centuries and a couple of fifties. He racked up four more hundreds in the next season and established himself as an integral member of the Glamorgan side.
In his maiden first-class hundred against the Northants, Selman became the first Glamorgan batsman to carry his bat since Mathew Elliot achieved this feat against Cardiff in 2004.
After back-to-back impressive seasons, Selman crashed down to Earth with an average 2018 County season. He failed to reach a single score of fifty-plus in 23 innings and was low on confidence.
However, Selman revived his career and showed his attacking instincts in the T20 Blast in 2019.
Selman has terrific hand-eye coordination and relies mostly on crease occupation, rather than brute force and aggressive batting. A former Australian Rules footballer, Selman is arguably one of the most promising players currently active in the Glamorgan side.
