Naman Tiwari is a left-arm fast bowler from Uttar Pradesh who has quickly climbed the ranks from age-group cricket to the IPL. Known for regularly hitting 145 kmph and swinging the new ball, he first caught national attention during the 2024 Under-19 World Cup before earning an IPL contract with Lucknow Super Giants. 

Naman Tiwari’s Early Life & Background

Born on November 8, 2005, in Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh, Naman later moved to Lucknow with his family to seek better opportunities. The family went through financial strain during that phase, and cricket could easily have taken a back seat.

Interestingly, Naman didn't start as a fast bowler, but he initially wanted to be a batter. At his local academy in Lucknow, batting opportunities were limited. Watching fast bowlers uproot stumps in the nets sparked something in him. That was the moment he decided to switch to pace bowling to become the fastest bowler in the world.

He trained at local academies in Lucknow and steadily built his pace. At 16, he won a regional fast-bowling contest by clocking 135 kmph, which opened doors to professional exposure as a net bowler in the IPL ecosystem.

Naman Tiwari’s Domestic Career

After serving as a net bowler for LSG in 2024, Naman Tiwari’s T20 breakthrough came in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League. Playing for Noida Super Kings, he delivered a standout 2025 season, finishing with 19 wickets in 10 matches at an impressive average and strike rate.

However, his IPL journey began as a net bowler, originally with Rajasthan Royals and later with Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2024. Those stints allowed him to learn closely from established international pacers and refine his inswing and yorker execution.

At the IPL 2026 auction, LSG secured him for INR 1 crore after a competitive bidding process.
