Matthew Harrey McKiernan is an English cricketer who plays for Derbyshire County Cricket Club. He was born on June 14, 1994, in Manchester. McKiernan is a specialist right-handed batter and occasionally bowls some leg breaks. Before making a debut for Derbyshire, he used to represent his local club Cumberland, where he played for more than two years.
Then onwards, he made his Twenty20 debut for Derbyshire on July 14, 2018, in the T20 Blast competition against Lancashire at Manchester. On September 16, 2019, he debuted in first-class cricket for Derbyshire in County Championship against Sussex at Derby. Still, sadly he couldn't impact the game as he was dismissed on the golden duck in the first innings and scored 7 in the second innings.
On July 22, 2021, McKiernan made his List A debut for Derbyshire against Leicestershire at Leicester. In that game, he came out to bat at the very back end of the innings, scored valuable quickfire 20 runs from 10 balls, and picked up a wicket in the second innings.
In the 2022 season of County Championship, he struck his maiden first-class century for Derbyshire against Leicestershire, scoring 101 from 191 balls.
