A hard-hitting batsman and useful medium pacer, Shukla made his Ranji Trophy debut for Bengal in the 1997-98 season against Maharashtra. He made the India U-19 team for the MTN Youth World Cup in South Africa in 1998. In early 1999 Shukla made his ODI debut for India. A mainstay of the Bengal Ranji team, Shukla played a vital cameo in Kolkata Knight Rider’s qualifier against Delhi Daredevils in 2012, scoring 24 in just 11 balls and helping his team to an 18-run win. After a forgettable 2013 IPL he represented DD in 2014. This year, the all-rounder will be seen turning up for SRH.
