A highly-composed top-order batsman, Khawar Ali is a professional Omani cricketer who has been a part of the middle-eastern country’s setup since his debut in 2015.
Named as the “Man of the Series” in the ICC World Cricket League Division four in 2016, he was soon promoted to the vice-captaincy role for the 2018 Asia Cup Qualifiers. With Oman finishing in the top 4 of the 2019 ICC World Cricket League, they gained the ODI status in April 2019. Under the vice-captaincy of Ali, Oman played his first ODI against Namibia on April 27th, 2019.
A rare part-time leggie in Oman’s national team, the 35-year old became the first-ever Omani cricketer to take a hat-trick in international cricket. Ali stole the show with a hat-trick in the tenth over dismissing Antonius Staal, Colin Ackermann and Roelof van der Merwe in the first three balls of his spell. With boatloads of experience in the shortest format of cricket, the veteran is a vital addition to Oman’s T20 World Cup squad.
