Known for his wicket-taking abilities, Kabua Morea is a professional cricketer for the Papua New Guinea national team. The tall left-arm pacer was a part of the U-19 squad of PNG for the 2012 and 2014 Cricket World Cup and also represented the men’s team in the Pacific Games in 2015, finishing as PNG’s leading wicket-taker with 12 dismissals.
A late-bloomer at the international stages, Morea received his maiden cap in an ODI fixture against Nepal on September 10th, 2021. The speedster had an unforgettable debut picking up 2 wickets for just 26 runs in his 10 overs quota but failure on the batting front saw PNG suffer badly in the second innings and got bundled out on 82.
Morea’s career-defining moment came against Oman on October 1st, 2021 when the pacer picked up his career-best figures of 5/28 in 9 overs and was rewarded with a place in the PNG’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Predominantly, a white ball cricketer and more so for the shortest format of cricket, Morea would be hoping to make the most of every opportunity to secure a place in PNG’s limited-overs side.
