An old-ball specialist and one of the brightest prospects on and off the field, Kabir Ali is a former English cricketer of Pakistani descent. Particularly a death bowler, and had the ability to bowl fast in-swinging yorkers.
A domestic star, Kabir failed to make it big on the international stage. Hailing from a cricketing family, he played for Lancashire and Hampshire in the Championship. Kabir was included in England’s squad after eight straight Ashes series defeat. Kabir made his Test debut against South Africa on August 21st, 2003, and picked 3 wickets on his debut alongside the star pacer Andrew Flintoff. With just one Test match to his name, he soon lost his place in the longer-formats but his death bowling was well preferred in the limited-overs as he went on to represent England in 14 ODIS from 2003-2006.
Kabir played close to 400 first-class games in a career spanning from 1997 – 2014, Ali last played domestic cricket in August 2014, for Lancashire. Having injured his shoulder in the 2013 Natwest T20 Blast, Ali underwent surgery but failed to recover before he was released by the County giants in October which forced him to retire from all forms of cricket in 2015.
