The elder sister of Amelia Kerr, Jess is a right-arm medium-fast bowler who plays for the New Zealand team and for the Wellington Blaze in the domestic competition.
Jess was elevated to the national setup after an impressive 2019/20 domestic season with the Blaze, topping the wicket charts with 20 scalps in the Super Smash competition. Her ability to swing the ball both ways and possessing good hitting abilities down the order makes her a valuable asset for New Zealand cricket.
Impressed by her all-round abilities, selectors decided to give her a chance in the ODI series against South Africa. She bowled 4 overs in her debut match, picking up a single wicket as the White Ferns lost the one-sided match.
Jess was included in the White Ferns squad for the 2020 Women’s T20I World Cup.
In the tournament, she made her T20I debut against the same opposition, and this time around Jess was impressive with the new ball and kept it tight as the South Africa Women’s team crumbled under pressure.
Jess was awarded a central contract by New Zealand ahead of the 2020-21 season.
A talented young cricketer just like her younger sister, Jess has not quite set the stage on fire as of yet, but will be hoping to make a name for herself ahead of the tricky international schedule for New Zealand cricket.
