Once considered a teenage prodigy, Himasha Liyanage is a Sri Lankan cricketer who plays for the Sri Lanka Army Sports Club in domestic competitions.
Born in Colombo, Liyanage is a left-handed batsman who was fast-tracked from an early age. His time came in the 2016-17 Premier League tournament when Liyanage was presented with an opportunity to make his first-class debut for the Sri Lanka Army Sports Club. Things didn’t go according to the plan, as the youngster was dismissed for a duck in his very first innings.
Liyanage worked on his game and eventually gained the support of the team management. He finally got a chance to make his T20 debut for the Sri Lanka Army Sports Club in the 2017-18 Twenty20 Tournament.
In August 2021, Liyanage was roped in by the SLC Blues team for the SLC Invitational T20 League tournament.
A classy left-handed player, Liyanage is a player to look out for in the near future. Though he still has a lot of work to do on his technique.
