Oliver John Peake is an Australian cricketer who continues to rise through the domestic ranks with composed performances and strong leadership credentials. A left-handed batter who also bowls right-arm off-break, Peake has represented Victoria at the state level and featured in the Big Bash League, while also building an impressive resume in age-group international cricket.
Peake was part of Australia’s Under-19 setup that won the 2024 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa. Originally named as a non-travelling reserve, his opportunity came early in the tournament when Corey Wasley suffered a broken finger in the opening match. Peake stepped into the squad and went on to be part of the title-winning campaign, gaining valuable experience in high-pressure international conditions. His leadership qualities were later recognised when, in December 2025, he was appointed captain of Australia’s Under-19 side for the 2026 Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, scheduled for January and February 2026 in Namibia and Zimbabwe.
At the senior level, Peake made his Big Bash League debut on 18 January 2025, turning out for the Melbourne Renegades against the Brisbane Heat. That same summer also marked his entry into first-class cricket. He played Victoria’s final match of the 2024–25 Sheffield Shield season against Western Australia at the WACA Ground, a challenging venue for any debutant. Peake handled the occasion well, top-scoring for Victoria in the first innings with a measured 52, underlining his ability to adapt quickly to the demands of red-ball cricket.
His steady progress was rewarded in May 2025 when he was handed a rookie state contract with Victoria. The following month, Peake secured his first full Big Bash League contract, further cementing his place in Australia’s domestic system. Ahead of the 2025–26 season, he continues to be part of the Melbourne Renegades setup.
With a World Cup medal at the Under-19 level, early exposure to first-class cricket, and leadership responsibilities already on his shoulders, Oliver Peake is building a solid platform as he continues his development in Australian domestic cricket.
