A right-handed wicket-keeper batsman, Dane Schadendorf was hailed as a teenage prodigy, back in Zimbabwe. Born in Harare, Schadendorf represented Zimbabwe at the Under-13 level and was known for his swift keeping skills.
Schadendorf was a subject of one of the most viral videos in 2020. During a quadrangular Under-19 series between Zimbabwe and New Zealand in Durban, Schadendorf affected a brilliant stumping which gained him huge popularity on the internet.
It happened in the 36th over of the game. Batsman Wheeler-Greenal attempted to dance down the track against the Zimbabwe spinner, Tadiwanashe Nyangani. The spinner saw the batter coming and slid the ball that was going down the leg. Schadendorf moved to his left swiftly, but was blind-sided due to the momentum. He back-flipped the ball back to the stumps, without even aiming at it.
The teenager went on to represent Zimbabwe at the 2020 Under-19 World Cup, and was subsequently signed by Nottinghamshire on a two-year basis.
A top quality wicket-keeper, Schadendorf is still raw as a batsman at the moment. His keeping skills are top notch, and with a little improvement in his batting technique, Schadendorf could be a star in the future.
