An extremely tall and well-built fast bowler, Chris Tremlett is a former England cricketer with a height of 6 ft 7 in to boast of, his pace, bounce, and ability to swing the ball both ways. His most lethal weapon was the ferocious bouncer with which he troubled the best of the batsmen around the world.
Born in a cricketing family, he was coached by his father, Tim Tremlett a former Hampshire pacer. After putting up some stellar performances for Hampshire, he was selected for the England U-19 tour of India in 2000-01. Tremlett made his ODI debut on June 21st, 2005 against Bangladesh. In his debut match, he was denied a hat-trick. The ball hit the stumps but unfortunately didn’t dislodge the bails.
Tremlett made his Test debut against India at Lord’s in 2007 at the iconic Lord’s. In his debut series, he marked his presence in world cricket as he bagged 13 wickets in three Tests. Tremlett played a leading role in the Ashes triumph of 2010-11. His best performance came at Perth where Australia levelled the series in spite of his 3 for 63 and 5 for 87. However, his 4 for 26 at MCG skittled the home team out for 98 alongside Jimmy Anderson and paved the way for an innings win.
Incessant injuries played a massive role in Tremlett’s cricketing career; he often suffered from knee and back injuries which took a heavy toll on him. Eventually, he announced his retirement on August 21st, 2015.
