Standing tall at 6 feet 3 inches, C Andre Siddarth, a young batting prodigy from Tamil Nadu, has emerged as a beacon of resilience and brilliance for his team. Following the footsteps of his uncle Sridharan Sharath, Andre rose through the ranks by demonstrating remarkable consistency to cement his place as one of India's biggest promising talents.
After some stellar outings for Chepauk Super Gillies in Tamil Nadu Premier League, for Tamil Nadu in Cooch Behar Trophy, and in Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament, C Andre Siddarth received his maiden domestic call-up for Tamil Nadu during BCCI’s 2024-25 season.
Reminiscing some of his finest artworks from the Cooch Behar Trophy, the lanky middle-order batter made 140 against Bihar to lift Tamil Nadu from a precarious 101-7. Against Chandigarh, he hoisted his team from 80-4 to eventual victory with a sublime 120.
Needless to say, it was Siddarth’s consistent run that fetched him a spot in the senior Tamil Nadu line-up, but on his first-class debut at Coimbatore against Saurashtra, the cricketer scored just 38 to mark the occasion. He attained his usual groove in the very next outing against Delhi by clattering 66* from just 94 balls. Young Siddarth followed it up with two more half-centuries against Assam and Railways, and held a batting average of 93.00 by the time of the first white-ball interlude from his maiden domestic season.
Aged 18 at the time, the youngster also attracted a bid from the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) table at the IPL 2025 mega auction in November 2024. A week later, he travelled to the UAE alongside the rest of India’s Under-19 troops for the 2024 Under-19 Asia Cup.
Coming from a cricketing background, Siddarth is the nephew of former Tamil Nadu cricketer S Sharath, now a national selector. While expectations are high, he remains focused on carving his own identity.
With a solid Ranji season behind him, an IPL debut ahead, and a desire to help Tamil Nadu win their first Ranji Trophy since 1987-88, he is one of the most exciting young talents in Indian cricket.
