Another cricketer who was born in India but decided to pursue cricket somewhere else, Badal Singh was born in Goa and represented them in the domestic circuit. He made his List-A debut for Goa in the 2007 Ranji One-Day Trophy.
A batting allrounder by profession, Singh had a turbulent time in the Indian domestic circuit and eventually decided to try his luck with Oman.
After gaining citizenship, Singh was named in the Oman squad for the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Three tournament, held in Oman.
Nearly two years after, Singh finally got an opportunity to represent Oman in an international event. He was handed his debut cap in an ODI game against Nepal in 2020. Singh had a lacklustre debut, scoring just 5 runs and going wicketless in the match.
A technically sound player, it has been a topsy-turvy career for Singh so far. Now towards the twilight of his career, he’ll look to make the most of the opportunities presented to him.
