He was a medium-pace bowler who was no stranger to bowling the longer spells in First-Class cricket. He was known for having a variety of deliveries in his repertoire.
The Deccan Chargers management spotted the variety he used to operate and picked him up before the 2011 season. This was his breakthrough year as he made his debut for Deccan Chargers and played for them until 2012.
In 2014, he was a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad. During his IPL career, Rajan managed to pick up the prized scalps of Chris Gayle and Sunil Narine. Anand Rajan currently works with the Indian star Venkatesh Iyer as his bowling advisor. The southpaw acknowledged the contribution of Rajan in his ability to have developed the effective yorker that he bowls.
