Due to his thin frame and peculiar bowling action, Avishkar Salvi drew comparisons with Glenn McGrath. He was fast-tracked into the Indian team after only two seasons in domestic cricket. However, injuries curtailed his international career, which was restricted to just four ODIs. After his recovery, Salvi couldn’t find his old rhythm. He did, however, regain his place in the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team.
He played six matches for the Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2009 but wasn't used by the team in the following season. He has been retained by the Delhi franchise for IPL 2012.
