Vincent Masekesa, born on March 27, 1997, in Zimbabwe, is a rising star in the country’s cricketing landscape, known for his crafty leg-spin bowling and handy lower-order batting. At 28 years old as of April 9, 2025, Masekesa has carved a promising path through Zimbabwe’s domestic circuit, showcasing perseverance and skill.

A right-handed batter and leg-break bowler, he first gained attention with his List A debut for Mountaineers in October 2022, where he claimed a four-wicket haul, signalling his potential as a match-winner. His first-class debut came earlier, on March 30, 2021, for Rocks against Mountaineers, and he has since become a key figure for the Mountaineers, even serving as vice-captain.

Masekesa’s standout moment arrived in first-class cricket with a remarkable 7/117, underlining his ability to dismantle batting lineups. With a List A batting average above 23 and a first-class best of 44, he’s proven his worth as a reliable all-rounder. His sharp fielding, often at point or gully, has earned him a reputation as one of Zimbabwe’s finest fielders.

In 2024, he played a pivotal role in the Mountaineers’ Logan Cup triumph, following their 2022 List A success, highlighting his leadership and consistency. Named in Zimbabwe’s Test squad for Bangladesh in April 2025 as an uncapped player, Masekesa is poised for an international breakthrough. With ambitions to represent Zimbabwe at the highest level, his blend of spin, resilience, and team spirit makes him a talent to watch.
