Karabo Meso is an emerging South African wicketkeeper-batter whose rapid rise has marked her as one of the brightest young talents in women’s cricket. Born and raised in Rockville, Soweto, Meso’s cricketing journey began in the streets, where she would play with her sisters. Her natural reflexes and energy quickly caught attention, and by the age of 7 years, she was already part of the Mini Cricket program run by the Cricket South Africa (CSA). Those early games at local grounds shaped her competitive spirit and sharpened the keeping skills that would later define her career.
Representing Central Gauteng, Meso proved her mettle in domestic cricket, standing out not only for her wicketkeeping but also for her growing batting ability. She impressed in provincial age-group cricket and soon became a mainstay in the Central Gauteng senior women’s team, often delivering crucial cameos with the bat and maintaining composure behind the stumps. The 2007-born teenager's performances at the domestic level fast-tracked her into the South African Under-19 side for the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023, where she topped the charts for wicketkeeper dismissals and was named in the Team of the Tournament. She again played in the next edition of the World Cup in early 2025.
In March 2024, Meso debuted for the Proteas in T20Is against Sri Lanka at just 16 years old. Balancing her matric studies with international cricket, she has shown maturity beyond her years.
Apart from that, Meso has been part of the South African cricket squad for the 13th African Games held in Ghana in March 2024. She and her teammates won a silver medal in the women's cricket event of the Games.
Meanwhile, Meso aims to achieve greater heights in cricket.
