Kate Coppack had almost decided to leave the game and continue with her law practice until the sport became more professional for women.

"But when the game became professional, there were added incentives, the standard got better and I really enjoyed working hard at my game and seeing where it could go. It was kind of a natural progression to try to get a fully professional contract while I still can," Coppack told the BBC in an interview.

Notably, the 1994-born cricketer is an employment lawyer by profession.

However, Coppack was always interested in cricket and has been playing the game since she was seven years old. When she was 13, she became the first girl to play for the first XI at King's School in Chester.

Coppack made her county debut in 2009 for Cheshire. In 2010, she was her side's joint-leading wicket-taker in the Twenty20 Cup.

Also, the all-rounder has made six appearances as a guest for Peru at the South American Women's Cricket Championship in 2018.

She was crowned as the Player of the Match in the 2024 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy final for taking four scalps.

Coppack currently plays for Essex in county cricket, while in The Hundred, she is part of the London Spirit squad.
