Player Bio

Rohail Nazir is one of the most promising young wicketkeeper-batters in Pakistan's domestic cricket circuit.

Coming from a family that supported his ambitions, he often recalls how his elder brother used to bowl to him for hours in their backyard, telling him that Pakistan always needs a reliable wicketkeeper. Those early sessions not only shaped his technique but also fostered his love for the game.

The promising wicketkeeper broke into first-class cricket for Islamabad in a Quaid-e-Azam Trophy game in September 2018, when he was only 16, and the 2001-born keeper-batter scored a ton in that game. Just a few days later, he made his List A debut as well. Notably, Nazir had made his T20 debut in November 2017.

In November 2019, he was named as the vice-captain of Pakistan's squad for the 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Bangladesh, where he was the leading run-scorer in the tournament. He amassed 302 runs in five matches, including a match-winning century in the final.

Over the years, the Islamabad boy has played for the Pakistan Shaheens on multiple tours.

In the National T20 Cup and PSL stints - with Islamabad United, Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans - Rohail didn’t always get long runs at the crease, but he took every chance to learn. He made his debut in the Pakistan Super League in the 2019/20 season.

Notably, he was named as the wicket-keeper of the tournament in the 2021–22 National T20 Cup.

At the junior level, Rohail became a familiar face for Pakistan fans. He led the national side at the 2020 U-19 World Cup in South Africa. Nazir didn't had a very great outing in the African nation as he scored 111 runs from four innings.

The keeper-batter made his T20I debut for Pakistan at the Asian Games 2023, where the country's men's team failed to secure a medal.

Nazir, who aspires to emulate Babar Azam and Virat Kohli, has previously stated, "My goals are to first get my Test cap and then play in the World Cup."

In late 2025, Nazir was included in the Test squad for the two-match home series against South Africa. The keeper-batter was named in the squad along with two other uncapped cricketers, namely Asif Afridi and Faisal Akram.
