Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal created history for India Women on Friday, October 23. The duo set a new all-time partnership record during the first ODI against Zimbabwe.
They went past Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Kaur’s tally of 1,978 partnership runs for India Women in ODIs with their 94-run opening stand in the three-match series opener in Vadodara.

The ongoing first ODI marked the 27th time Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal batted together for India in ODIs. They have now accumulated 1,979 partnership runs, surpassing Mithali and Harmanpreet, who scored 1,978 runs together in 56 innings.

Mandhana and Rawal achieved the feat while chasing a target of 198 runs in the first ODI against Zimbabwe in Vadodara. Their 94-run opening stand helped them surpass Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Kaur’s long-standing record for India Women in ODIs.

Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal came close to creating another record in first ODI against Zimbabwe. They needed just six more runs for their eighth 100-run partnership in women’s ODIs, which would have made them the first Indian pair to achieve the feat.
The duo currently have 7 century partnerships together, level with Mithali Raj and Punam Raut for the most 100-run stands by an Indian pair in women’s ODIs. Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana are next with six such partnerships.

They could also target the world record for the most partnership runs in women’s ODIs for any wicket. Australia’s Lisa Keightley and Belinda Clark hold the record with 3,339 runs in 67 innings, leaving Mandhana and Rawal plenty to chase.
