Delhi Capitals have been synonymous with WPL, reaching all four editions of the tournament. However, the coveted trophy has not been conquered till now. This year, under the leadership of Jemimah Rodrigues, the Capitals are taking on RCB in the WPL 2026 final at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara hoping to change history.

Batting first, Delhi Capitals got off to a promising start, but it was their captain, Jemimah Rodrigues, who transformed the innings.

Coming in at number four, she dictated terms against RCB’s bowling attack, effortlessly stitching boundaries and rotating strike, giving her side the momentum they had been missing in past finals.

Her innings brought much-needed stability to Delhi’s middle order. The experienced Rodrigues blended caution with aggression, punishing loose deliveries while keeping a watchful eye on the run rate.

Her calm approach ensured Delhi Capitals did not collapse under the pressure of yet another final, setting the platform for a competitive total.

Jemimah makes WPL final history for Delhi Capitals

Jemimah Rodrigues became the first Delhi Capitals player ever to score a half-century in a WPL final, rewriting the team’s record books. Her knock of 57 runs off 37 balls set the standard and provided the backbone for DC’s innings, which had faltered in previous finals.

Shafali Verma’s 44 in the 2024 final against RCB was the previous best by Delhi Capitals where they failed to get over the line. Rodrigues’ innings featured eight exquisite boundaries, with precision and elegance that left RCB bowlers frustrated.

Despite falling to Sayali Satghare, her efforts ensured Delhi Capitals reached 148 inside 16 overs. The team now had control, with confidence and momentum firmly in their hands as the final progressed.

Jemimah is the third player ever to score a half-century in a WPL Final

Jemimah Rodrigues became only the third player in WPL history to score a half-century in a final, finishing with a brilliant 57-run knock. Her innings was composed, aggressive, and match-defining, showcasing why she thrives in cricket’s biggest, high-pressure moments.

Before her, Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt had set the benchmark in WPL finals, scoring half-centuries against them across two WPL finals. By joining this elite list, Jemimah now etches her name among the tournament’s finest final performers.

Jemimah Rodrigues falls just short of Harmanpreet Kaur’s WPL final record

Jemimah Rodrigues played a scintillating knock in the WPL 2026 final for Delhi Capitals, yet fell just short of Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s 66, the highest individual score in a WPL final which she had set the in the 2025 final against Delhi Capitals.

Despite missing the mark, Jemimah’s composed and aggressive innings kept Delhi Capitals in control. The team went on with the carnage, posting a record 203-run total, setting RCB a daunting target and challenging them in a record-breaking chase. Her performance highlighted why she rises to the occasion on the biggest stage.
