Andre Flintoff might have retired from the game of cricket, but another member of the Flintoff family is set to take the centre stage as his son, Rocky, has become the talk of the town and has started to climb the ladder with his impeccable performances.
The 18-year-old Rocky Flintoff is following in his father’s footsteps and playing for Lancashire in the English domestic ODI Cup, Flintoff smashed a 65-ball century against Somerset and broke a huge milestone that stood for 136 years.
Flintoff becomes the youngest Lancashire player to smash List-A hundred
In a riveting fixture in Taunton, Lancashire batted first, and the opening pair got them off to a brilliant start as they added 83 runs for the first wicket.
Flintoff came out to bat at number 5, and the hard-hitting player changed the course of the game as he smacked the Somerset bowlers to all corners of the ground and reached his century in just 65 balls. In the process, he became the youngest Lancashire player to register a List A hundred.
He also broke a record that stood for 136 years. Before Flintoff, it was Archie MacLaren, who held the record of the youngest Lancashire centurion in List A cricket (18 years and 256 days) in 1890. Flintoff surpassed him as he attained the milestone at the age of 18. years and 126 days.

Hailing from a cricketing family, Rocky Flintoff has all the pressure in ther world to emulate what his father achieved during his playing days. In fact, the senior Flintoff (Andrew) was the one under whom Rocky blossomed playing for the England Lions side.
Last month, Flintoff had a stellar series against the South Africa Under-19 side, as he became the second-highest run-getter in the series (163 runs in three innings).

After dominating South Africa in the Youth ODIs, Flintoff scored a gritty 63 in the first innings of the Youth Test against the same opposition, showcasing his mettle across formats.
In the Youth ODI series against India in 2025, the technically sound batter smashed a hundred and a fifty in the five-match series as the English batter stamped his authority against a quality Indian side.
Should Flintoff be fast-tracked in England senior squad?
So far, the 18-year-old has been outstanding in 50-over contests, and he has made a habit of scoring runs in ODIs. Hence, the best-case scenario would be to incorporate him into England’s ODI setup.
England’s top four in the ODIs are settled, with Joe Root and Harry Brook dominating at number 4 and 5. However, the team still has to look at the future, and Root might not play this format beyond the 2027 ODI World Cup.
The team needs to build its squad for the future, and Flintoff could be the flag-bearer as the Three Lions can test him in the middle order in the upcoming few series. He can be an aggressive option in the middle-order, alongside the likes of Jos Buttler, and Will Jacks.
