The three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Australia has delivered edge-of-the-seat drama, with the Men in Green outshining the mighty Aussies at every turn. After a spectacular victory in the 2nd T20I, Pakistan has already named the series, with Australia facing a massive heartbreak.
While Australia is having a nightmare, ace leg-spinner Adam Zampa has touched a massive milestone. By dismissing Babar Azam in the last game, Zampa became the bowler who has dismissed the Pakistani star the most times in T20Is.
Zampa’s dominance over Babar Azam creates a world record
Before facing Pakistan in the second T20I of the ongoing series, when Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa was asked about Babar Azam’s dismissal in the last match, his unbothered answer grabbed the attention. When he removed the star batter once again in the second T20I, Zampa went on to script a glorious milestone in his career.
Facing the Men in Green in the second T20I match in Lahore, Australia bowled first in the match. Adam Zampa came to bowl in the eighth over, and Babar Azam was on strike. The Pakistani star once again found it tough against the Aussie leg-spinner, as history repeated itself.
Zampa bowled a sharp delivery, and Babar attempted to push on the leg side. But fate took a fateful turn once again. Trapped in the crease, the Pakistani batter was adjudged LBW and had to walk back. With that dismissal, Zampa created history by removing Babar Azam for the fifth time, the most by any bowler in T20Is.
Adam Zampa leaves cricket legends behind with the historic feat
With that historic feat, Adam Zampa has not created a world record; he surpassed some of the finest cricket talents. Before him, New Zealand’s Adam Milne and Mitchell Bracewell, along with England’s Adil Rashid, had dismissed Babar Azam four times in T20Is. Now, Zampa stands alone above them all, rewriting the record books with a new level of domination.
The shortest format of the game has seen 10 faceoffs between two stars, and Adam Zampa has dismissed him five times, showcasing his domination. Against the leg-spinner, Babar’s average also stands at a mere 15.6, further highlighting Zampa’s control in the rivalry.
Lahore roars as Pakistan outclass Australia in a statement win
After a thrilling victory in the first T20I match, Pakistan entered the second match with sheer domination, and the world paused to witness their heroics. Despite early stumbles while batting first, the Men in Green roared back through exceptional knocks from Salman Agha and Usman Khan to post a commanding 198.
While defending the total, the Pakistani bowlers made the difference. After captain Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head walked away consecutively, that put pressure on the Aussie side. Amidst the slump, Cameron Green tried to turn the tide with a 20-ball 35, but the other batters failed to assist him.
Matthew Short’s knock of 27 runs in 23 balls fell short as the Aussies ended their innings in just 108 runs. Pakistan’s sheer dominance earned them a commanding 90-run victory. With this win, the Men in Green took a 2-0 lead in the series.
