LSG logo reveal gets bashed by fans [Source: X]
After announcing the logo for Manchester Super Giants in The Hundred a month ago, Lucknow Super Giants have decided to unveil and replace their old logo for IPL 2026. The franchise owned by Sanjiv Goenka has been expanding across multiple tournaments and franchises with acquisitions and stake claims in several leagues, even across different sports.
On February 24, Lucknow Super Giants unveiled their new logo for IPL 2026, replacing the old one with a design similar to the Manchester Super Giants logo, which features an elephant alongside their trademark wing design.
The Inspiration From Manchester Super Giants Logo
Ahead of the LSG logo change, Manchester Originals were rebranded as Manchester Super Giants by the Sanjiv Goenka Group. The new logo, unveiled on January 26, featured a prominent elephant head with a crown in red, white and gold.
The crest incorporates an elephant with wings and a crown, signifying power, resilience and agility for the team. The colour palette, mostly dominated by red, white and gold, will also be implemented in the Lucknow Super Giants logo.
As the Manchester franchise came under the same Super Giants umbrella as LSG, this change is seen as an effort to maintain a unified Super Giants identity across every franchise format and sport. However, interestingly, the logo change of Manchester Originals was not received well by fans, who criticised what they called an overly Indianized logo design.
Lucknow Super Giants To Reveal Fresh New Logo
Now, moving on to the recent logo overhaul, LSG’s official social media handles are set to reveal the logo after mysteriously removing their profile pictures.
Building hype around the new logo, although it was not officially released at first, fan speculation suggested that it would follow the Manchester Super Giants pattern, featuring a white elephant with a crown on top and wings in the colours of the Indian flag emerging from the sides of the elephant’s head.
Fans Slam Sanjiv Goenka Group
This has once again triggered backlash on the internet, with fans unhappy about the drastic change, as the old logo had strong emotional value for supporters. Many fans expressed anger and criticised Sanjiv Goenka for the bold decision.
Let’s take a look at how fans reacted to the change in the Lucknow Super Giants logo:
LSG Need Rework In Team Buildup Ahead Of IPL 2026
Speaking of the rebrand, LSG may feel the need for change because, since their debut in 2022, although they have been consistent playoff contenders initially, they have struggled in recent seasons.
While they reached the playoffs in 2022 and 2023, they suffered group-stage exits in the 2024 and 2025 editions, finishing seventh in the latest season.
Lucknow Super Giants also underwent a captaincy change. After backing KL Rahul for the first three seasons, the mega auction saw him exit from LSG, as Rishabh Pant was signed for a high price and appointed captain.
However, this change in leadership did not immediately bring improved results for the Sanjiv Goenka-owned IPL franchise. Nevertheless, the most expensive captain in IPL history, Rishabh Pant, is set to lead the side again in the 2026 season, which is expected to begin in late March.
Although the IPL 2026 schedule has not yet been announced, once the T20 World Cup 2026 concludes, an official update is expected soon.
