The BCCI retained the core of the ODI side, with only the Asian Games squad members missing from the ODI team. The three-match series provides India a great chance to test their best-possible combination ahead of the World Cup.The likes of Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli will form the top three, and the bowling lineup has also been sorted ahead of the West Indies matches. There were talks that Rishabh Pant could be picked, but the southpaw was snubbed.Jurel, on the other hand, had done well for India in the recently concluded India vs Sri Lanka Tests, and as a result, the keeper-batter was given a chance in the ODIs. However, with KL Rahul, the first-choice keeper-batter, Jurel might not get a single game.Gill and Rohit will open, Kohli will play at 3, Gaikwad replaces Shreyas Iyer at 4, and with KL Rahul playing at 5, that leaves no space for Jurel to be accommodated in the playing XI.Unless an injury occurs to KL Rahul, his backup might not get a chance in the ODI series against the Windies.2) Yashasvi JaiswalPurely on the basis of numbers, Yashasvi Jaiswal should be one of the first names on the team sheet. In six ODIs, he has 285 runs, with an average of 71 and a strike rate of 97.60.Jaiswal is predominantly an opening batter, and with Rohit-Gill-Kohli occupying the top three positions, where does Jaiswal fit in? The hard-hitting batter was impressive in the Punjab T20 league, and based on that performance, he was picked in the ODIs.He mainly bats in the middle order, and those spots have already been occupied by the likes of Gaikwad, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.He doesn’t offer much with the bat in ODI cricket, and he also doesn’t bowl much in List A to classify himself as an all-rounder.
