The New Zealand vs South Africa T20I series has been a riveting contest, especially with the fact that both sides are missing some high-profile players in the squad. Interestingly, the home side, New Zealand, were the better side heading into the five-game series, but the Kiwis failed to seize the advantage, and the series is levelled at 2-2.
Several New Zealand stars are missing, either due to an injury or due to commitments with other franchise leagues. They lost the last T20I match against the Proteas, and for the series decider, the Kiwis could make a couple of changes, and here’s how their probable XI could shape.
New Zealand predicted playing XI Vs South Africa- 5th T20I
Openers and top order: Tim Robinson, Katene D Clarke, Dane Cleaver
With not too many options left on the bench for New Zealand, the opening combination will not be disrupted with Tim Robinson and Katene D Clarke batting at the top of the order for the Kiwis. While Robinson did well in the last match with a quick-fire 32, Clarke failed to deliver the goods, and the hosts will hope he can come good in the series finale.
Dane Cleaver is set to bat at 3, and the talented batter will hope he gets some match-winning runs under his belt. Just like Robinson, he got a start in the last match, but couldn’t capitalise and was dismissed for a 16-ball 26.
The New Zealand top three has immense potential, but if the Black Caps are to win the match, the trio needs to fire all guns blazing. The side can consider bringing Tom Latham in place of one of the openers, but he is nursing an injury, and looks doubtful for the 5th T20I.

Middle order and all-rounders: Nick Kelly, Bevon Jacobs, James Neesham(c), Josh Clarkson, Nathan Smith
While the New Zealand top order has shown potential, the same cannot be said about their middle-order in the ongoing series. The likes of Kelly, Jacobs, and Neesham and have blown hot and cold, and it has disrupted their campaign against South Africa.
However, with no one really on the bench, the team will not make any changes, and trust will be shown to the same crop of players. The duo of Kelly, and Bevon Jacobs are highly talented, and the home team would hope the duo can deliver the goods.
In the middle-order, they might have to make one change, with Cole McConchie likely to miss the match as the all-rounder has signed up to join the PSL. With the key player, McConchie, out, Nathan Smith, the all-rounder, is set to get a game against the South African side.
Bowlers: Zakary Foulkes, Kyle Jamieson, Ben Sears
The bowling attack will be led by Kyle Jamieson, as the experienced pacer will aim to trouble the South African batters. He can generate extra bounce, and that could put the South African batters under pressure.
Jamieson will be complemented by Zak Foulkes, and Ben Sears, as the Kiwis boasts a stellar bowling attack for the 5th T20I.
