The preparations for IPL 2027 are underway. The season will kick off with a mini-auction set on December 16 in Goa. Franchises have until November 15 to announce their retentions. Eyes will be on CSK, who haven’t qualified for the playoffs in the last three seasons and have undergone a massive coaching overhaul, with Zaheer Khan named as the new head coach.
Zaheer’s first assignment with CSK will be to lock retentions, and he is facing a race against time. The biggest question will be MS Dhoni’s availability. Notably, the 45-year-old didn’t play a solitary game in IPL 2026 because of injury.
