West Indies Playing XI against Scotland [Source: X]
West Indies will take on Scotland in the second match of the T20 World Cup 2026. The match will be held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, on February 7. The match will be live for fans from 3:00 PM IST.
West Indies vs Scotland Preview
West Indies enter the contest under pressure after recent setbacks, including a 23-run loss to Afghanistan in a warm-up match and a 2-1 T20I series defeat to South Africa before the tournament.
Scotland also look to recover from losses, having gone down by six runs to Namibia in a high-scoring warm-up and losing earlier to Afghanistan, as they aim for a strong start to their campaign.

Openers and Top Order: Brandon King, Shai Hope (c and wk) and Shimron Hetmyer
The opening combination for the West Indies would likely feature Brandon King and their skipper, Shai Hope, at the top, since they have been experimenting with this setup since the South Africa series.
Shimron Hetmyer, though rumoured to be injured, haven’t been officially withdrawn yet; hence, he remains a prime occupant at No. 3. Hetmyer has been in top form with the bat.
In the South Africa series, he bagged 171 runs @85.50 while striking at 178.13. Nevertheless, if Hetmyer fails to make it to the match, Johnson Charles, his counterpart, will be eyeing that spot against Scotland.
Middle Order and All Rounders: Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd and Roston Chase
At No. 4, Rovman Powell will be doing justice with his recent form, where, against New Zealand T20Is, he boasted a strike rate of 182.00 from 5 matches. Sherfane Rutherford will follow with blistering form in the South Africa series, where he averaged 63.00 at a strike rate of 210.00.
Romario Shepherd, the right-arm fast bowling all-rounder, will be the cushion in the middle order with the bat. His occasional power hitting at No. 6 can take care of any early fallout. Roston Chase got the technique with the bat and will be a balanced anchor at No. 7 to survive at the other end of brutal hitting.
Bowlers: Jason Holder, Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales and Gudakesh Motie
West Indies might opt for three frontline pacers against Scotland. Jason Holder, who can also occasionally show might with the bat, might feature alongside Jayden Seales. While Matthew Forde remains a solid choice with pace bowling, Shamar Joseph might get the green card for the opening clash.
The only frontline spinner that West Indies will opt for is Gudakesh Motie, with Akeal Hosein having a recent slump with the ball. Alongside Motie, Roston Chase will be enough to tackle the spin department.
