India's fielding has been in question in the entire tournament and was again under the scanner after Shivam Dube dropped Finn Allen for a duck in T20 World Cup 2026 final. The fans were in disbelief as Dube dropped a dolly and that too a big fish.

Courtesy of the dropped opportunity, the Kiwis quickly stitched an 30-run opening stand. Axar Patel drew the first blood, which prompted Suryakumar Yadav to bring in Jasprit Bumrah.

Ishan Kishan Leaps Onto A Stunner

Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan made up for Shivam Dube's blunder and took a sensational catch on the first ball of the 4th over. Bumrah tested Rachin Ravindra with a slower delivery and the southpaw mistimed one high in the air.

It was a difficult catch and Ishan dived forward and took a brilliant catch. The southpaw was impressed by his efforts and ran towards the MI seamer and hugged him in joy.

Ishan is having a final to remember and slammed a quickfire fifty to help India put 255 runs on the board. It was not the only catch that Ishan took as he also took Tim Seifert's catch, who was looking dangerous.

Notably, Seifert slammed a quickfire 52 (26), which featured five sixes and a couple of fours. Therefore, his wicket was much required. Overall, Ishan Kishan took three catches in the final and was literally everywhere on the field.

Axar Patel Lifts Up India's Fielding Standards In Semis

For the unversed, it was Axar Patel who actually lifted India's fielding standards in the semi-finals. Bapu took two brilliant catches to put India ahead in the game against England.

Axar's best moment came when Jasprit Bumrah came to bowl. The right-arm seamer bowled a slower one to test Harry Brook, who fell into the trap and mistimed the shot. The ball was high in the air but far from Axar, who was standing in the 30-yard circle.

The India vice-captain was hopeful of the chance and ran 24 metre and didn't take his eye off the delivery. At the end moment, Axar Patel put in a dive and took a brilliant catch, probably the catch of the tournament.

Afterwords, Patel took the crucial catch of Will Jacks. It was again a running catch and Patel took a brilliant relay catch alongside Shivam Dube.

India Heading Towards A Comfortable Win

India, batting first, put 255 runs on the board. Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and Abhishek Sharma slammed fifties. Samson missed out on a century, but Ishan and Abhishek scored quickfire fifties.

In reply, New Zealand got off to a great start but lost five quick wickets and are now reduced to 124/6 after 13 overs. Tim Seifert was the only positive with the bat and slammed 52 (26).
