South Africa, under Temba Bavuma, was trailing the three-match home Test series against Australia 0-1 before taking the field in Gqeberha. Moreover, the Proteas were reduced to 110-6 inside the first 50 overs of the second Test at St George's Park Cricket Ground.

By Day 5 of the same match, South Africa had completed its demolition job on the visitors, brought the series level, and proved why they are the rightful owners of the WTC title and still remain in contention for making the 2027 final next year. Following South Africa’s historic result, here is a look at the updated WTC 2025-27 points table.

Australia continue to remain on top of the 2025-27 WTC points table despite falling to a huge innings defeat against South Africa at the St George's Park Cricket Ground in Gqeberha on October 22.

However, Australia’s PCT dropped from 81.82 to 75 after the result, which puts them closer to New Zealand’s second-placed PCT of 72.22.

Defending champions South Africa also retained its third position on the updated WTC charts, but they improved their PCT from 60 to 66.67 through their series-levelling win over familiar rivals.

Bangladesh and India, both with a PCT of above 50, are still ranked fourth and fifth on the nine-team points table respectively, and they are followed by England, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Pakistan. It is worth noting that the final four teams on the current WTC rankings are already out of contention for the 2027 final next year.
