On Wednesday evening, Edinburgh Castle Rockers' Tom Curran scripted history during Match 11 of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL 2026) at Sportpark Westvliet, Voorburg Cricket Club.
As Edinburgh Castle Rockers retained the top spot after beating Belfast Wolves in a near-perfect fixture, the Mitchell Santner-led side bagged their third victory in the inaugural season.
Opener JJ Smuts led the show with a spectacular 60-ball 98, but missed out on a well-deserved ton by an inch, although he took the team total to 189/5.
Later, the bowlers were virtually on fire, with Curran and Trent Boult rattling the opposition batters by sharing seven wickets between them.

Defending 190 runs, Tom Curran emerged as the best bowler on display. The Englishman was sublime as he didn't just bowl at the right line and length, but he rattled the likes of David Miller with his superb variations.
Curran went for runs in his first over, with Paul Stirling hitting him for a hat-trick of fours inside the powerplay. However, Santner removed him from the attack, not to bring him back for the 12th over.
The right-arm seamer took just two deliveries in his second spell to remove Miller with a nip-backer from round the wicket. After trapping the dangerous South African, Curran had his tail up.
He then had Fred Klaassen and Matthew Humphreys out next over, before getting Mark Adair on the first ball of his fourth to complete a hat-trick. With that, he became the first bowler to snap a hat-trick in the ETPL.

Tom Curran, Trent Boult form lethal attack for Edinburgh
The duo of Tom Curran and Trent Boult are complementing each other brilliantly. The left-right combination is working like a charm for the table-toppers, Edinburgh Castle Rockers.
Even though Boult has taken 10 wickets in three innings, Curran has bagged just five scalps so far. The Englishman relentlessly builds pressure on opposition batters, forcing them into mistakes, while the left-arm seamer capitalises on those opportunities.
As a result, the former Kiwi paceman is currently sitting in second place in the wicket tally, just next to Anrich Nortje with 11 scalps.
Moreover, not just the pacers, the Castle Rockers have equally impressive spinners, in Mitch Santner and Mark Watt, in their ranks.
Tom Curran sits next to Ravi Bopara on elite English list after second T20 hat-trick
After his latest performance in the ETPL 2026, Tom Curran has bagged his second T20 hat-trick, with the pacer registering his first hat-trick in the T20 Blast back in 2019 against Glamorgan.
Overall, the 31-year-old all-rounder has taken 292 wickets in 258 innings at an economy rate of 8.86, coupled with his 2694 runs. The experienced player has been a T20 agent, playing in almost every franchise league across the globe.
He is currently the joint-eleventh highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket among England cricketers, sharing the podium with Ravi Bopara. With at least six more games to go before the playoffs, Curran could easily surpass the 300-wicket mark.
