However, late Thursday evening, the state board said the IND vs AFG fixture will go ahead as scheduled. The DDCA has received assurance from the Delhi Traffic Police regarding all necessary support and arrangements. On Thursday, when the Shreyas Iyer-led India side had their first practice session before the IND vs AFG T20Is, they had no security officials present when arriving at and leaving the practice session. That said, DDCA’s notification came after Team India’s practice had ended, which means the Delhi Police would have assured security and arrangements from Friday (September 11) onwards. Meanwhile, as per reports, the majority of police and security personnel will be assigned to duty around the 18th BRICS summit, with an estimated 70-80 high-security movements scheduled daily across the city. This means both Indian and Afghanistani teams may have less police security than usual, at least during the IND vs AFG 1st T20I. IND vs AFG T20Is to Go Ahead Despite BRICS Summit Security DutiesWith the BRICS summit scheduled for this weekend, it could affect only the first T20I between India and Afghanistan, but that’s not the case. Meanwhile, the remaining two matches will also be played at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, but those matches won’t face any problems whatsoever.It is worth mentioning that the BCCI are not the host for the IND vs AFG T20Is, as the Afghanistan board is hosting it. But despite that, the DDCA and the Indian board have been at the forefront of negotiations with the Delhi Police.The IND vs AFG T20Is will be played on September 13, 15 and 17. Nevertheless, the hosts have already landed in Delhi and started their preparations for the big series.
