Mere days prior to the launch of the series, a crucial member linked with the Indian squad has surprisingly submitted his resignation to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).The individual will now serve his three-month notice period, and will be relieved by the Indian board before the end of the year. He joined the Indian team as a replacement of Nitin Patel, who himself moved to the BCCI CoE in Bengaluru. Patel has since joined the Mumbai Indians franchise in the IPL.Why did Kamlesh Jain submit his resignation?As per reports, Kamlesh Jain submitted his resignation because of the extensive travel involved with the Indian cricket team. The BCCI, however, is yet to respond to the resignation.Jain was recruited by the Indian board when he was part of the KKR franchise back in mid-2022. Speaking on his resignation, a source close to the development said “He has been with the Indian team for four and a half years. Although he has enjoyed his association with the Indian team, he wants to avoid travel because of a young family.”When will Kamlesh Jain exit Team India?Currently on a three-month notice period, Kamlesh Jain will continue to serve as India team’s physio in the upcoming three-match ‘away’ T20I series against Afghanistan in Delhi. He will also remain with the Indian national squad for the white-ball series against the West Indies at home later this month. Kamlesh, however, will likely leave the Indian cricket team support staff after India’s upcoming all-format tour of New Zealand. While the New Zealand tour can be Jain’s final assignment as India’s physio, the BCCI can also relieve him earlier if they find a suitable replacement in time.Team India marred with departures in support staffIncidentally, Kamlesh Jain is not the first individual to resign from the Indian support staff in recent times.Just a few weeks ago, India’s fielding coach T Dilip left the Indian cricket team after returning from England.
