The ongoing BPL 2025-26 is serving nonstop drama, spilling far beyond the 22 yards. As the Dhaka crowd witnessed a pure thriller in Qualifier 2, the Sylhet Titans’ advisor Fahim Al Chowdhury came up with a serious allegation.
After the Titans suffered a crushing defeat in a high-stakes clash, their advisor shocked everyone by accusing a player of match-fixing. While firing shots at the player, Fahim even requested further investigation into this matter.

In the ongoing edition of the BPL, the Sylhet Titans have enjoyed immense success before facing the heartbreak in the qualifier 2. Against the Rajshahi Warriors, their bowlers gave them an early advantage, but the batting lineup couldn’t capitalize. Chasing 166, the Titans fell short by 12 runs, ending their campaign and leaving their title dream unfulfilled.
Fans were disappointed after the heartbreaking defeat, but the real shocker was yet to come. During a Facebook live session moments after the defeat, Sylhet Titans advisor Fahim Al Chowdhury accused one of their own players of match-fixing.
“I have come to you with shocking news. I am sharing some very important information. Today’s match was completely compromised for us. I have received reliable evidence. Someone from inside the match sold himself. He lied to us, betrayed Sylhet, cheated Sylhet Titans, and most importantly, cruelly betrayed the emotions of the people of Sylhet,” he said.
Is it just for the money?
Match-fixing is nothing new in cricket, as the sport has faced such controversies for a long time. While accusing the player, he questioned if all of these happened because of money, then why didn’t he reach out to the Titans' advisor?
“If he needed money, why didn’t he come to me? There was no need for this. He could have told me how much he needed, and it would have been arranged. This has broken me,” he said.
Fahim steps down and promises a full investigation
The defeat affected Fahim heavily as he stepped down from his role. Even after leaving the team, he is not in any mind to let the situation go. In that live session, he warned the accused player that a detailed investigation is on the way.
“I will not stop here. This will be investigated thoroughly, and appropriate action will be taken against those responsible,” he said.
Throughout the tournament, the Sylhet Titans have showcased outstanding form. Completing the group stage, they appeared in the knockouts, being one of the strong contenders for the highly anticipated BPL title. On an emotional note, Fahim condemned the act, calling it dishonesty and a clear compromise.
“Today’s loss was a loss to dishonesty. This was not a normal defeat. It was a compromise. It was fixing. Sylhet was betrayed. He touched the wrong place, the emotions of Sylhet’s people,” he added.
As the Sylhet Titans ended their journey with a 12-run defeat, the Rajshahi Warriors are set to face the Chattogram Royals in the high-voltage final clash on January 23. As they will face each other, aiming for the trophy, fans are waiting for some unmissable T20 actions.
