With Ottneil Baartman getting ruled out of the Australia series, the CSA has now named Duan Jansen as his official replacement. Duan, who is Marco Jansen's twin brother, is currently in Namibia for South Africa's three-match ODI series.Baartman joins Kagiso Rabada among injured SA pacersSenior fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has been already ruled out of South Africa squad for the ODI series against Australia owing to his hamstring injury. The speedster is nursing a grade 3 injury, and he has been advised to take a rest of nine to 10 weeks for attaining full recovery.With Rabada already out of the series, Baartman’s absence has now further reduced South Africa’s pace-bowling options for the ODI series against Australia.Marco Jansen, Ngidi find form; Coetzee set for returnFortunately for South Africa, fellow fast bowler Marco Jansen has found form after undergoing a below-par IPL 2026 season for the Punjab Kings franchise. Playing for the Titans, the lanky speedster picked up seven wickets against the Dolphins at an expense of just 100 runs, which included a match-winning spell of 4-61 on the final day. Lungi Ngidi also picked up two crucial wickets in the match to justify his selection in the South African team for the ODI series against Australia.Moreover, the CSA also named young fast bowler Gerald Coetzee in the South African team for the ODIs, thus making his return to the format after a gap of nearly three years. Coetzee last featured in an ODI match for South Africa way back in November 2023 in the semifinal of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup in India. The 26-year-old holds an impressive bowling average of just 23.22 after playing 14 ODIs, and has bagged 65 scalps overall in his List A career.With Kagiso Rabada and Ottneil Baartman suffering injuries, the onus will be on Marco Jansen, Lungi Ngidi and Gerald Coetzee to lead South Africa’s pace attack against Australia.
