Filmmaker and musician Palash Muchhal is back in headlines after fresh legal trouble surfaced in Maharashtra. The controversy comes months after his reported breakup with Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana, keeping Muchhal under constant public scrutiny once again as attention shifts to serious financial allegations emerging.
Palash Muchhal, known for his work in independent cinema and music, has also directed films in recent years. His association with Smriti Mandhana earlier kept him in celebrity news, but current focus has shifted sharply towards allegations involving money and trust raised by a Sangli-based complainant recently.
According to India Today, a complaint filed in Sangli has accused Palash of cheating a local film financier. The case has added another layer to the narrative around Palash, who has remained in the spotlight for personal and professional reasons over the past months.
New Rs 40 lakh fraud case filed against Palash Muchhal in Sangli
The complaint was lodged by Vaibhav Mane, a Sangli-based man, who claims he was financially cheated by Palashz. Mane, described as a childhood friend of Smriti Mandhana, approached police alleging that promised returns on a film investment never came despite repeated promises and assurances earlier.
According to the complaint, Mane was introduced to Muchhal through Mandhana’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, during the filmmaker’s visit to Sangli. The introduction allegedly led to discussions around film production and potential investment opportunities, which later turned into financial disputes between the two parties.
Mane has alleged that he paid a total of Rs 40 lakh to Muchhal in multiple installments. He stated that payments were made through cash and digital transfers, with all transaction records submitted to the Superintendent of Police for verification.
Film Nazariya: The unfinished project and its troubled investment background
Mane’s complaint revolves around a proposed film titled Nazariya, which Muchhal allegedly planned to produce. Mane claims he was given assurance of a quick completion, OTT release, and all the returns in time, which made him invest a significant amount based on trust and personal assurances given.
However, the film reportedly did not move forward and was never completed. When Mane asked for his money back, Palash Muchhal initially promised repayment but later avoided communication, eventually blocking Mane’s number, resulting in a legal complaint after months of waiting and unanswered calls and messages allegedly.
Continued controversy around Palash Muchhal
The Sangli case has added to a series of challenges faced by Muchhal over the past few months. His name earlier made headlines after his wedding to Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana was reportedly called off midway, drawing widespread public attention and speculation across social media platforms and entertainment news spaces.
With the cheating complaint now under police examination, Palash Muchhal remains under scrutiny on multiple fronts. Authorities are reviewing documents before taking further steps. As investigations continue, the case highlights how personal controversies and financial disputes have kept the filmmaker in constant public focus in recent times.
