The toss for the much-anticipated Big Bash League 2025–26 final between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers has been delayed due to rain in Perth on Sunday.

The final is scheduled to be played at Optus Stadium, but overcast conditions and morning showers have affected preparations for the match.

Light rain continued to fall in the hours leading up to the game, forcing ground staff to cover the pitch and delaying pre-match activities. Officials at the venue confirmed that the toss could not take place as planned due the a wet outfield.

On the other hand, the Sydney Sixers are aiming to lift their fourth BBL trophy. Interestingly, this final will be the sixth time the Scorchers and the Sixers have met in a BBL final. This afternoon, the weather at Optus Stadium will be warm and pleasant, with temperatures reaching around 27°C, though it may feel closer to 26°C.

Expect bright periods mixed with some cloud cover, giving the day a partly sunny feel rather than full-on sunshine. A refreshing breeze from the west-northwest will be noticeable, blowing at around 26 km/h, with strong gusts up to 50 km/h, especially in open areas.

Humidity sits at a comfortable 51%, and the dew point of 15°C keeps the air from feeling sticky. There’s a 25% chance of precipitation, but with 0.0 mm expected, rain is unlikely.

Cloud cover is relatively high at 77%, yet visibility remains good at 10 km, making it a decent afternoon overall, warm, breezy, and mostly dry.

However, it is important to note that there is less chance of rain. If we take a look at the rain prediction in the evening, it is 55% with 60% cloud cover. If the rain plays spoilsport, there is a reserve day available.

UPDATE: It is important to mention that the Perth Scorchers have won the toss and elected to field first.
