In a significant development, the PCB has revealed that fixtures and squads for Pakistan’s upcoming domestic tournament, the ABS Developers National T20 Cup 2026. Notably, the key event will begin on Saturday, 7 March, with the final scheduled for 18 March.

Interestingly, Babar Azam was reported to feature in the upcoming tournament for Lahore Whites, but the 31-year-old’s name was missing from the final list. A total of 10 regional teams, Abbottabad, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Karachi Whites, Karachi Blues, Lahore Blues, Lahore Whites, Multan and Sialkot, will take part in the National T20 Cup.

Babar Azam Humiliated by the PCB

As mentioned above, there were reports that Babar Azam might captain Lahore Whites. The fans were excited and eagerly waiting for PCB’s official press release. However, Babar’s fan-army are left disappointed and devastated to see their idol getting snubbed in domestic tournaments as well.

Notably, the exact reason behind Babar Azam’s exclusion is not known yet, but his pathetic show in the T20 World Cup 2026 could also have played a big part. In four matches, he just scored 91 runs, and his strike-rate was in question. The head coach, too, didn’t show faith in Babar and didn’t send him to bat in the do-or-die Namibia clash.

Babar Azam Dropped For Bangladesh ODIs

It was Babar’s second humiliation within hours by the PCB as the right-handed batter failed to get a place in Pakistan’s 15-member ODI squad for the upcoming Bangladesh tour starting from March 11. It was shocking to see the former Pakistan captain’s name missing from the 15-member team list. Notably, Pakistan had a poor T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, which also led to several players’ exits. However, the fans were shocked to see Babar bowing out of the team despite boasting a great ODI record.

Notably, Sri Lanka toured Pakistan in November 2025, where Babar Azam scored 165 runs in three innings, which also featured a century for the right-handed batter after two years. Therefore, no one expected him to be dropped following a stellar series.
