Pakistan and their failures in ICC tournaments often make a lot of noise in the cricket world. Now, to make matters worse, they even fail to qualify for one of the most prestigious competitions hosted by the ICC.

Just like men, women’s cricket will have their first ever historic Champions Trophy next year. And unfortunately for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the Fatima Sana-led side will not be the part of the competition.

Pakistan Ruled Out Of Women's Champions Trophy 2027

As of June, Pakistan are eighth in ICC T20I team rankings for women. In the Women’s Champions Trophy 2027, there will only be six teams, including the hosts, Sri Lanka.

The deadline to qualify for the ICC tournament is July 6, and Pakistan can’t get a place among the top-ranked teams. As of now, Australia, England, India, New Zealand and South Africa will join Sri Lanka for the Women’s Champions Trophy 2027.

When Did Pakistan Win An ICC Tournament?

Despite being one of the most talked-about cricket nations in the world, Pakistan have won only three ICC tournaments in the history of cricket. Among them, the first came in 1992, when Imran Khan, easily the greatest cricketer from their country, led them to win the ODI World Cup in Australia.

After that, they won the T20 World Cup in 2009, defeating Sri Lanka in the final. Then they defeated India in the Men’s Champions Trophy 2017 final, and it still remains their last-won ICC trophy.

Pakistan Face Setbacks In Women's T20 World Cup 2026

Pakistan, under the leadership of Fatima Sana, had a disastrous start in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. They began with a humbling 64-run defeat against arch-rivals India, followed by a two-wicket defeat against South Africa.

To make them look more awful on the field, Bangladesh handed Pakistan a 23-run defeat. Australia, as expected, outmuscled them with a 113-run loss.

At one stage, they seemed to lose against the debutant Netherlands as well until captain Fatima Sana and Ayesha Zafar saved the ultimate embarrassment with three wickets apiece.

In Group A, Pakistan finished fifth on the chart, only above the Netherlands. They had an NRR of -1.872, having only got two wickets in five matches. Even Bangladesh had four points, and had way better NRR (-0.849) than Pakistan.

When Will Women's Champions Trophy 2027 Happen?

Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 will take place between February 14 and February 28. It was originally scheduled for the June-July window.

At this time, Australia women are scheduled to host New Zealand for a six-match limited-overs series. Cricket Australia (CA) has already been informed by the ICC, which decided to prepone the Women’s Champions Trophy 2027.
