However, the BCB are yet to make up their mind.Sultana is currently Bangladesh women's ODI captain and has also been leading the side in T20Is. However, she has asked to step down as T20I captain. She reportedly sent her resignation to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) by email before the Asian Games. According to Daily Sun, the BCB’s women wing chairman Rafiqul Islam Babu will meet Bangladesh women's players on Monday, September 28, for a key meeting.They will speak directly to Sultana about her decision and later hold a separate meeting with BCB president Tamim Iqbal. Then the women's wing and Iqbal will collectively decide whether to accept her resignation. “We will sit with the girls on Monday. Joty will be spoken to there. After that meeting, we will discuss the matter with the BCB president and take a decision on Joty,” Rafiqul said.Hence, for now, Nigar Sultana is still the captain of Bangladesh Women’s cricket team in white-ball formats. Rumours also began to surface that Nigar Sultana stepped down due to indifference to the board. However, she later clarified that her decision was not because she was hurt or unhappy with the board.She said she wanted to focus more on her batting and contribute more as a player. Notably, Bangladesh Women had a horrible run in the Asian Games as they lost to Pakistan Women in the bronze medal match.BCB revamps Bangladesh Women’s coaching setupHaving said that, apart from captaincy, the BCB have also decided to revamp the coaching setup following the team’s disappointing results at the Asia Cup and Asian Games. David Hemp, who previously worked as Bangladesh's batting coach, has been appointed the women's head coach from October 1. That effectively brings Sarwar Imran's stint as head coach to an end. But on his way out, Imran lashed out at the board, saying that BCB’s pressure created unrest in the dressing room.
