Jason Gillespie Accuses Mohsin Naqvi Of Not Paying His Money Despite Contract Breach

Jason Gillespie, who previously served as Pakistan’s Test coach, has once again taken a dig at Aaqib Javed, blaming him for the ongoing mess in Pakistan cricket. After a successful coaching stint in the Australian circuit, Gillespie took over the Pakistan cricket coaching role but left abruptly, citing differences with Mohsin Naqvi and Javed.

The former Australian cricketer was also critical of how Naqvi ran the PCB, and the ex-Pakistan Test coach blamed the Pakistan Cricket Board for still holding the money they owe him.

Gillespie drops bombshell on Naqvi and PCB

The 51-year-old dropped a bombshell as he revealed that PCB still owes him thousands of dollars from his Pakistan coaching stint. Gillespie further stated that he was never a yes-man and would have never compromised on his principles.

“The PCB still owes me thousands of dollars, but I was never going to be a yes man. I wasn't going to compromise on my principles. I could have stayed quiet, agreed to everything and taken home my salary, but that's not me," Gillespie told Telegraph.

Apparently, Gillespie’s contract was set to expire in 2026, but he decided not to continue as the head coach after constant interference from Naqvi and Aaqib Javed.

Gillespie once again blames Javed for Pakistan's downfall

Not only Naqvi, but the former Australian speedster was also critical of Pakistan’s Director of High-Performance, Aaqib Javed. The right-arm pacer admitted that Pakistan needs strong leadership, someone who can get the right coaches in place and let them decide what the leadership is going to be.

The legendary bowler also opened up about his time as Pakistan's Test coach and how working with the PCB left him questioning himself and doubting his future in cricket coaching.

“The whole experience just deflated me and put me off coaching. It affected me mentally, doubting myself and left me thinking whether I still wanted to be involved in the sport," Gillespie said.

“I was totally disrespected and undermined and I direct that towards Aaqib Javed."

“At our first meeting he came in with bravado, bluff, and bluster, wanting to show he was the man in charge. He said: ‘This is what we need to do.’ I listened and said OK. But this kept on happening and I pushed back on a couple of his comments. I just felt from that moment on that it wasn’t going to work because he’d already decided what he was going to do. There was going to be no collaboration whatsoever."

Javed has full backing of Mohsin Naqvi, reality revealed by Gillespie

The former Pakistan coach revealed that Aaqib Javed has the full backing of Naqvi, and it allows him to do whatever he wants, and this has resulted in the downfall of Pakistan cricket.

“Aaqib had the support of the chairman and the board and that’s why he felt he was untouchable," Gillespie said. “As a coach, you feel compromised. He was not a collaborative chairman of selectors. He doesn’t take on other people’s ideas, thoughts, or opinions. He might think he does, but he doesn’t. It was his way or the highway."

“He just does what he wants because he is allowed to (because of) his close relationship with the chairman.

How Pakistan cricket has fallen under Naqvi and Javed's leadership

Naqvi was appointed the new PCB Chairman in February 2024, and under his watchful guidance, Pakistan cricket has certainly gone backwards.

The Pakistan side crashed out of the group stages in the T20 World Cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy 2025. Moreover, the side failed to reach the semis of the T20 World Cup this year. In the Asia Cup, the Men in Green lost to India.

Things got worse in the red-ball setup, as the team failed to deliver the goods in home and away Tests, and in 2026 alone, they have lost a Test series against Bangladesh, have drawn a Test series 1:1 against the West Indies, and currently trail 0-2 vs England.

Aaqib also has a major role to play in Pakistan's downfall, as under him, several coaches changed, and recently, he, alongside Naqvi, sacked the entire coaching department and removed seven players from the Test team midway through the England tour.
