In a significant development, the NCCIA has issued a final notice to the 34-year-old, asking him to appear before investigators.A report from Samaa TV stated that the National Cyber Crime Agency has asked Mohammad Rizwan to appear before its members on October 2 at 3:00 pm PST to take part in the ongoing cybercrime inquiry.Mohammad Rizwan Warned Of Legal Action By NCCIARizwan and NCCIA has been at loggerheads for over four weeks now. Notably, the agency took Rizwan’s phone into custody on August 31. They issued him a summons, but the 34-year-old failed to appear.In the latest events, NCCIA has issued a second and final warning to Mohammad Rizwan, asking him to co-operate and appear before the agency. Notably, the cyber crime members have warned of a legal action against the Pakistan keeper-batter in case he does not oblige to the 2nd warning.“The NCCIA notice states that failure to appear will be construed as meaning that the accused has nothing to present in his defence,” the notice read as reported by Samaa TV.Why Has Mohammad Rizwan Been Asked To Be Present In Person?The NCCIA wants to conduct the forensic test of Rizwan's phone in his presence. Investigators fear entering an incorrect password could potentially affect access to or compromise data stored on the device. Notably, the NCCIA came onto the scene when they asked Mohammad Rizwan to submit his phone for investigation into potential gambling and engaging in online betting. Mohammad Rizwan Asks Agency To Return Phone; writes letterMeanwhile, Mohammad Rizwan has written a letter to the NCCIA, requesting them to return his phone. The keeper feels that he has been kept in the dark over the nature of the investigation and wants his device back.The report added that Rizwan submitted his phone to the NCCIA on August 31 in the UK. The keeper-batter claimed that he was assured that the phone would be given back to him within 2-3 hours. However, the agency members have now kept his cell phone for four weeks.The letter also added that Mohammad Rizwan seeks clarity from NCCIA over the nature of the investigation and stated that he is cooperating well with the process. The letter mentioned that Rizwan handed the phone to NCCIA despite having no legal obligation to consent to that request.Mohammad Rizwan Given No Respite From Lahore High CourtWhen the matter got public and the agencies started to act, Mohammad Rizwan turned to the Lahore High Court for some relief. The 34-year-old made an appeal that the NCCIA has no jurisdiction into the matter. The authorities suspected illegal activities, which is why they wanted to search the cricketers’ mobile phones.
